Today marks 7 years since my father passed away. I would like to say it gets easier, but why kid myself. In fact, I would say it has gotten so much harder since our wedding and little man's birth. He looks so much like my dad.
Little man,
I know your grandfather would have loved you more than anything and no one would have spoiled you more (except maybe your mamaw.) He could have introduced you to baseball, taught you about the great books, or even shown you how to take pictures like the ones mom takes of you. No matter what, he would have shown you great amounts of love.
Now I admit, your grandfather would have driven you crazy playing Bob Dylan songs all the time, but there is one I think will always ring true. So in the words of Dylan himself...
"May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young."
