7 years goes by so fast...

Today marks 7 years since my father passed away. I would like to say it gets easier, but why kid myself. In fact, I would say it has gotten so much harder since our wedding and little man's birth. He looks so much like my dad.

Little man,

I know your grandfather would have loved you more than anything and no one would have spoiled you more (except maybe your mamaw.) He could have introduced you to baseball, taught you about the great books, or even shown you how to take pictures like the ones mom takes of you. No matter what, he would have shown you great amounts of love.

Now I admit, your grandfather would have driven you crazy playing Bob Dylan songs all the time, but there is one I think will always ring true. So in the words of Dylan himself...

"May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young."

Photograpy

We are finally getting into photography. J is learning how to capture the right moments with clarity. I had a manual SLR before. So I can focus more on learning to use the DSLR in the manual modes and editing the photos to make them look professional. I honestly would love to do professional photography, but I have a lot to work on.

I'm trying out the Lightroom 3 beta. I'm totally in love with the program. Here are some of the things I've been able to create. If you want to see more, start checking out my photography page, LovelyOphelia Photography.

Maryland Renaissance Festival

J and I ventured out with the little guy and some friends to the RennFest to see our dear friend Natalie perform. It was a beautiful day and we all enjoyed getting out of the house. However, I do not recommend going the day after a rainstorm. None the less, it was a blast and I had a chance to take some amazing photos of Natalie's performance and just the Festival in general. If you have never been, check it out next year. Their website is www.rennfest.com

Here is some of what I was able to capture today. All of these pics are SOOC (straight out of camera.) I will post some edited images later on.

It's time...

I finally feel that it is time to start blogging so our friends and family can keep up. The little guy is getting big. I don't know where the time goes anymore.

We did it! We went the extra mile and invested in a Nikon D5000 DSLR. I'm totally in love with it. I hope to start taking more pictures, but school and J's work seem to get in the way. But I'm posting a few pictures to show what it can do.
